Frank Weldon Whitesell, age 84, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 1, 1939 in Alamance County, NC to the late Charlie Sylvester Whitesell and Beatrice Floyd Whitesell.

Frank was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC. He enjoyed gardening, golfing and electronics. Frank was a loving husband, father and Papaw. He was a bright light to many and will be dearly missed.

Frank is survived by his wife, Patricia Ragan Whitesell; sons, Michael Whitesell (Lori) and Todd Whitesell (Kelly); sisters, Maxine Cheek (Holt) and Lois Fuller; grandchildren, Josh Whitesell, Ragan Wilson (Davis) and Emma Hawley (Kyle); and many other family and friends including, long-term caregiver, Judy Wells.

Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Neece; and brothers, Richard Whitesell and James "Buddy" Whitesell.

A memorial service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11 am with Reverend Thomas Greene officiating and the United States Air Force performing military honors.
