Franklin Theodore Faircloth, age 91, of Atkinson and formerly of Harrells died Monday, August 27, 2007 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 15, 1916 in Princeton, the son of the late Andy Christopher Faircloth and Callie Pierce Faircloth Jones. He was also predeceased by step-sons, Robert Burley and William "Bill" Carter.
In 1940 Mr. Faircloth began his honorable twenty-two year military career in the US Air Force. During WW II he was deployed for thirty-three months in China/Burma as a radio technician for the Flying Tigers Division of the USAF. He continued his military career as a recruiting officer, retiring in 1963. After retiring from the military he returned to Harrells where he owned and operated Electromatic Burglar Alarm Company until he retired a second time.
Frank bred and showed Registered Quarter Horses and was the proud owner of several champions including a World Champion Halter Horse.
Mr. Faircloth was a member of Moores Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-eight years, Evra Carter Faircloth of the home; step-daughters, Brenda Carter and Sandra Carter Webb both of Wilmington; seven step-grandsons; one step-granddaughter; and five step-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2007, in the Fellowship Hall of Moores Creek Baptist Church, 170 Rivenbark Rd., Currie.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Moores Creek Baptist Church with The Rev. Philip Eakins officiating.
Burial will follow in Harrells Community Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the US Air Force Honor Guard.
Casketbearers will be William Scott Carter, Robert Tate Carter, John Alexander Webb IV, William Jason Webb, Jeffery Luther Key, and Joseph Jefferson Scronce, Jr.
Flowers will be welcomed or memorial gifts may be given to Boys & Girls Homes of NC, Inc., PO Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450-0127 or to the charity of one's choice.
