Obituary

Freddie Lee Horrell, age 82, after a long and good life with loving family passed into Glory on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

He was born September 6, 1942, at home in Rocky Point, the son of Leon and Virginia McDowell Horrell. In addition to his parents Freddie was preceded in death by his brother, William "Billy" Horrell.

Freddie is survived by his sister, Mary Tompkins; several nieces and a nephew and their children.

Freddie lived his whole life in Rocky Point and worked at H&P Woodturning until his retirement. He loved outdoor sports and could entertain people for hours with his hunting and fishing stories.  He loved spending time with his family and taking trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains.  He lived at Daysprings in Wallace for several years and more recently resided at Northchase in Wilmington. He never knew a stranger and formed many lifelong friendships everywhere he traveled.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Riverview Memorial Park with the Rev. William Hill Pearsall officiating.
