Frederick William Black, age 83, of Manchester Township, New Jersey passed away on Monday morning, April 17, 2023, at ECU Health Duplin Hospital.

He was born on August 9, 1939, in Leonardo, New Jersey; the son of the late George and Margaret Farley Black.  He was predeceased by his son, Frederick "Skip" Black and granddaughter, Kayla Hitchcock.

Fred proudly served his county in the United States Navy. As well as being a Navy Veteran, Fred was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of the Elks.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Arlene Trepp Black; his daughters, Kelly Button and husband, Bruce of Wallace, Shelly Hewett and husband, David of Wilmington and Denise Brzenk and husband, Kevin of Abbottstown, PA; grandchildren, Joshua Nicol and wife Caroline, Stephanie Nicol, Molly Punk and husband, Tony, Hunter Black, Samantha Caldwell and husband, Raymond and Tiffany Brzenk and Brittany Black; great grandchildren, Janelle, Luca, Carter, Jesse, Daniel, Keith and Ryan and numerous extended family and friends.

Fred was a devoted husband and caring father and grandfather who loved his family dearly.  He was a hard worker as a lineman for many years.  Being an avid outdoorsman, Fred loved to hunt and fish.  During his life, Fred acquired many friends that enjoyed hunting and fishing with him as well as working with at the power company.  He had a great sense of humor and was willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.  Fred will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

There will be a funeral service and burial in New Jersey.
