Obituary

Garland Jones, age 71, of Magnolia died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Quinn Hospice Care Center in Kenansville.

He was born March 8, 1938 in Duplin County; the son of the late Clemeth and Effla Lanier Jones. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Wanda Kay Dail and brother, Horace Jones.

Mr. Jones was owner and operator of Jones Used Tires in Kenansville for twelve years until his declining health.

Surviving are his devoted wife of forty-nine years, Doris James Jones of the home; his daughters, Pamela D. Mitchels of Jacksonville, Debbie J. Fleenor of Warsaw and Jackie J. Kinsey of Magnolia; grandchildren, Andrea D. Quirk, Cody J. Davis, Jamie C. Myers, Beth M. Hayes and Matthew D. Kinsey; great grandchildren, Michael Hayes and Addison Quirk; brothers, Terry Jones, Paul Jones, Casey Jones and Mark Jones, all of Wallace; sisters, Carol Padgett and Shelby Cayton, both of Jacksonville, Doris Blake of Holly Ridge, Opal Grey of Richlands and Libby Kornegay of Magnolia and very special sister-in-law, Pat J. Pierce of Jacksonville.

Mr. Jones found great joy in the simplest things, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life. His family is comforted knowing that their loved one is in no more pain and he has moved from this life to a much fuller one with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Graveside funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Jones Cemetery, Ludie Brown Road in Chinquapin.

Casketbearers will be Michael Jones, Steven Jones, Jack Blake, Wayne Padgett, Daniel Gray and Harvey Cayton.

The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 pm Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.
