Obituary

Gary Douglas "Doug" Moore, 63, of Hampstead and formerly of Ivanhoe where he grew up passed from his earthly life Thursday, July 10, 2025.

He was born April 9, 1962 in Pender County, the son of Manley Wardell Moore and Temple Matthews Moore, both who preceded Doug in death.

Doug is survived by his sister/caregiver, Phyllis Moore Hubbard; nephew/caregiver, E J Hubbard (Susan); great nephew, Gavin Hubbard (Liz); great niece, Ashlyn Hubbard; special neighbor and friend, Rev. LeRoy Newkirk; many extended family and friends.

Doug was a Christian gentleman and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he attended church until his health began to fail.

Many remember Doug as an outstanding Ivanhoe farmer who loved his Ford tractor, tilling the soil, raising corn and tobacco, and planting a bountiful vegetable garden. He was noted for his delicious collards and for sharing his knowledge of secrets (not textbook) for growing a fruitful garden. Doug was an excellent brother, uncle, and loyal friend. His presence in our lives will truly be missed.

The graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the graveside gathering.

With grateful appreciation to caregivers Robin Meeks and Christy Rawls for their loving care of Doug.

Shared memories and condolences may be sent to the family by selecting Tribute Wall.
