Gary Walton Foy, 58. of Wallace, died Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

Gary was born July 16, 1951 in Wilmington, the son of late Benny Brinson Foy and Virginia Byrd. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Earl Byrd; brother, Benny Ray Foy; and grandfather, George Benton.

He is survived by his wife Ruthie Foy; children Gregory Foy (Monica), Dewayne Foy (Jennifer) all of Burgaw, Tracie Lee Horne (Jay) of Willard and Jack Williamson (Angela) of Wallace; daughter-in-law, Jennie Williamson; grandchildren, Brittany Foy, Jacklyn Williamson, Kaitlyn Williamson, Marissa Williamson, Gracie Williamson, Erin Ward Williamson, Samantha Lockamy, Melissa Horne, David Foy, Dakota Foy, John Michael Malone, Channing Collum, Matthew Lockamy, David Lockamy, Curtis Horne, and Daniel Horne; great-granddaughter, Alaiah Harmon Malone; sister, Peggy Sikes (Jon) of Wallace; grandmother, Elizabeth Benton of Willard; aunt, Lois Rivenbark; dear friend, Bobbie Ann Odom; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary dearly loved his family and was constantly showing it in so many ways. For many years he devoted much of his time coaching youth baseball and always attended ballgames of his children and grandchildren. Gary's love of the outdoors was evidenced by the way he kept his manicured yard. Two of his many passions were tinkering in his shop and keeping up with his favorite ball team, Duke. Cherished memories of Gary will forever remain in our hearts.

The family will receive friends 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. David Knowles officiating.

Burial follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Casketbearers will be Donald Croom, Jr., Guy Croom, Jay Horne, Kenny Woodward, Ross Bowden and Jon Sikes.
