Gaye Kelly Lanier

Gaye Kelly Lanier, age 59, of Burgaw died peacefully Friday, June 20, 2008 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 15, 1949 in Conway, SC, the beloved daughter of Daphne Stevens Gause of Penderlea and the late Robert Otis Gause.

Mrs. Lanier was a respected beautician in Wilmington for over thirty-five years.

Gaye loved her family dearly and expressed her love in so many ways. Being a very strong willed lady she fought her illness in the same way she lived her life, with an internal strength and sense of purpose, never giving up hope. She enjoyed and was proficient at so many things; fishing, cooking, bowling and refinishing furniture. Her warm and generous personality made her a true friend to many and beloved by her family. Cherished and precious memories of Gaye will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved Gaye.

In addition to her mother Gaye is survived by her loving family; her husband, Samuel E. Lanier; sons, 1st Class Samuel Adam Lanier, US Navy, of Norfolk, VA and Jason Scott Lanier and his wife, Shay, of Maple Hill; brothers, Steven Gause and his wife, Sharon, of Castle Hayne and Garrett Gause and his wife, Melody, of Wilmington; several nephews and nieces including a special niece, Hallie and a caring friend, Wanda Porter.

Memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Jim Everette and Pastor Richard Wurtzel officiating.

The family will receive friends at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home on Monday immediately following the memorial service until 8:00 p.m.
