Genny Mercer Huggins

Genny Mercer Huggins, age 67, of Wilmington and formerly of Rocky Point died Friday, April 23, 2010 at Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Born August 8, 1942 in Creston,Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie L. and Bessie Benson Pace. She was also predeceased by her sister, Alberta Mae Miller.

Mrs. Huggins retired after 20 years from General Electric. She was a native Cherokee descendant who loved children and enjoyed expression through the writing of poetry.

Surviving are her loving family: her children, Denise M. Richardson and husband, Lee of Charlotte, Carson W. "Buddy" Mercer and wife, Katy of Wilmington, Wesley Alan Mercer and wife, Vickie of Shallotte, Johnny Lynn Mercer and wife, Pamela of Wilmington, Jeffrey Eugene Mercer and wife, Susan of Wilmington and Jeanine Mercer Treto and husband, Victor of Rocky Point; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and sisters, Edna Holker of Afton, IA and Jenny Hand of Des Moines, IA.

Memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. Monday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Pastor Andy Davis officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday evening immediately following the funeral service until 9:00 p.m. and other times will be at the home of Jeanine and Victor Treto, 63 Cheuffa Ct, Rocky Point.
