Obituary

George Robinson Brown, Sr., age 71, of Rocky Point left this earthly life for his heavenly home on Sunday, January 13, 2008.

He was born February 1, 1936 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Marion and Theoria Parker Brown.

Mr. Brown served his country honorably in the US Air Force. Prior to retirement he was Transportation Director with NC Public Schools and later was employed with Jim Russ Chevrolet in Wallace. Mr. Brown was a member of Castle Hayne Baptist Church. Being a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and brother he will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-one years, Ruth James Brown of the home; children, Theresa Ring and husband, Charles of Cary, George R. Brown, Jr. and wife, Karen, and Larry W. Brown, Sr. and wife, Tracy, all of Rocky Point, Kim Brown of Wilmington, and Glenda Webb and husband, Danny of Newport; grandchildren, Wayne, Lindsay, Brandon, Morgan, George III, Parker, Laura, Michael and Melissa; great granddaughter, Maria; brothers, Jerrell Brown and wife, Pat of Wallace, Jimmy Brown and wife, Brenda of Johnson City, TN, Jonathan "J.M." Brown and wife, Ann of Burgaw, Bobby Brown and wife, Donnie of Penderlea; sister, Marie Carter and husband, Coy of Wallace and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Rev. William Smith and the Rev Clay Carter officiating.

Burial will follow with military honors in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

Casketbearers will be Dean Brown,Robby Brown, Lawrence Hope, Carlton Sneeden, Ricky Roethlinger and Jonathan Wilkins.

The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.

Mr. Brown's family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude for the special love and excellent care given by his caregivers, Brenda Bromley-Turner and Jean Wilkins and his physicians, Dr. Kavita Persaud, MD and Dr. Sunil K. Arora, MD both of Wilmington and Dr. Adam Wachter, MD of Duke University Medical Center.
