George Washington Hardison, Jr., 65, of Rocky Point passed from his earthly life, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 26, 1948 in Wilmington to George W. Hardison, Sr. and Elnor Virginia Lewis Hardison Miller. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Tompkins.
George is survived by his children, Tre Hardison (Jamie), George Hardison IV (Jennifer), Amy Strange, Brad Hardison (Jessica), Joshua Hardison, and Amanda Shutz; 16 grandchildren; brother, Gene E. Ballard and many extended family, all who loved George.
For many years George was an engineer on a tug boat and most recently owned Hardison and Sons Radiator Shop. In his younger years he was a member of Rocky Point Volunteer Fire Dept. where he is now an honorary member.
George loved his children, always making sure they had everything they needed and some of what they wanted. His grandchildren were special and a joy in his life. Hunting, fishing, and being outdoors in God's beautiful world were all things George enjoyed in his spare time. His caring manner, his laughter, his joy in life will always be remembered.
Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February, 25, 2014 at Pike Creek Cemetery with The Rev. William Hill Pearsall officiating. Prior to the graveside service on Tuesday the family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw.
