George Franklin Larkins, Sr., age 78, of Wilmington died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at his home.

He was born February 10, 1929 in Wilmington , the son of the late Carl Larkins and Ila Mae Reaves Larkins Moore. He was also predeceased by his wife of forty-one years, Carolyn Duval Larkins; brothers, Robert Larkins and Carl Larkins, Jr.; and sister, Connie L. Clardy.

Frank was a devoted husband, daddy, granddaddy and brother who loved his family dearly. In past years he was an avid fisherman. Mr. Larkins served his country honorably in the US Navy.

Surviving are his loving children, George F. Larkins, Jr. and wife, Darlene of Wilmington, Matthew Heyer and wife, Jackie of Leland, Cathy Thornton and husband, Mike of Wilmington, and Elizabeth "Beth" Adamovsky and husband, Joe of Watha; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Jack T. Larkins and wife, Faye of Rock Hill, SC, and sister, Betty Jean Bragg and husband, Stacy of Slidel, LA.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Pastor Patsy Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in Atkinson Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Steve Bragg, Cole Bragg, Charles Williams, Wes Carder,Tacarlo West and Richard Kuebrich.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw.

The family suggests that memorial gifts be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter, 725-A Wellington Ave., Wilmington, NC 28401.
