George William Peterson, age 78, of Rocky Point, NC passed away on November 27, 2023.

He was born on December 13, 1944 in Wilmington, NC to the late Henry Lonnie Peterson and Mary Catherine Ezzell Peterson.

George was a caring man and always put others before himself. He enjoyed gardening and the great outdoors. When he wasn't fixing something, he could be found on his tractor. Most of all, George liked spending time with his family (especially roasting oysters). He was a bright light to many and will be dearly missed.

George is survived by his son, George Dereck Peterson (Christal); daughter, Christy Owsley (Jonathan); sisters, Kay Phelps and Bonnie Fowler; grandchildren, Kobe Owsley, Trenton Owsley, Madison Poole (Gregory), Chandler Raynor, and William Peterson; and great-grandchildren, Greyson Poole, Kayden Poole, and Natalie Poole.

George was preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine Cramer and Eleanor Pfaff; and brother, Henry Lonnie Peterson, Jr.

A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington.
