Obituary

George William Rivenbark, Sr., age 76, of Wallace died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at his residence.

Mr. Rivenbark was born May 1, 1931 in Pender County and was the son of the late George Ernest and Mary Esther Hamilton Rivenbark. He was also predeceased by his sister, Catherine Boone.

He was a retired farmer who worked hard for his family and a member of Wells Chapel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-six years, Lois Benton Rivenbark of the home; daughter, Dianne R. Smith and husband, Steve of Wilmington; son, George W. Rivenbark, Jr. and wife, Margaret Ann of Wallace; grandchildren, Patrick Wright Rivenbark, Ashford Christian Smith and Heather Michelle Rivenbark; siblings, Florence Hoover and husband, Harry of Harrells, Sam Rivenbark and wife, Joyce of Athens, TX, Gloria McIntyre of Watha, Flora Lee Ciuffreda and husband, Tony of Miami, FL, Bernice Hayden and husband, Richard of Easton, PA., Claude Rivenbark and wife, Loretta of Newnan, GA, Ray Rivenbark and wife, Edna Rae of Watha and Faye Ball of Peachtree City, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 at Wells Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Stan Jenkins and Rev. Benjamin Taylor officiating.

Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Danny Ray Rivenbark, Scott Rivenbark, Tim Rivenbark, Jason Rivenbark, Patrick Rivenbark and Ashford Smith.

Honorary casketbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Wells Chapel Baptist Church.

The Rivenbark family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the funeral service at Wells Chapel Baptist Church and other times at the Rivenbark's residence.
