Glen Robert Groves, age 61, of Rocky Point died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at his home.

He was born December 27, 1947 in Sampson County, the son of the late Perry David and Alice Virginia Merritt Groves.

Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Groves Mares (Lloyd) of Rocky Point; brothers, Dallas Groves (Brenda) of Trenton, George Groves (Nancy) of Albemarle and Jerry Groves of Burgaw; sisters, Alice Morse of Raleigh, Joyce Pope of Rocky Point and Janet Whitehead (Billy) of Hampstead; many nieces and nephews; former spouse and Becky's mother, Novel Groves; and good friend, Grace Pridgen.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home until time of the service and at other times will be at the home of Glen's sister, Janet Pope.
