Glenn McAllen Sholar, age 68, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest Friday, September 30, 2011 at his residence.
Born June 8, 1943 in Duplin County, Glenn was the son of the late Denver Glenn and Mattie Elma Padgett Sholar. He was also predeceased by his brother, Lennis Earl Sholar and grandchildren, Daniel Glenn and Alicia Gail Ramsey.
Glenn was a member of Lighthouse Family Worship Center.
Surviving is his loving wife of 47 years, Gail Garriss Sholar; daughters, Phyllis Henderson, Glenda Ramsey and husband,David, all of Wallace; son, Anthony Sholar and wife, Diane of Wallace; his grandchildren, who were the \\"apples of his eyes\\", Lyndsey Henderson, Alex Henderson, Zara Henderson, Alleigh Ramsey, Jared Ramsey, Brandi Sholar, Ashley Sholar and Waylon Sholar; brother, Denver Dwight Sholar and numerous friends.
Glenn was a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He lived his life based on the fact that "this world was not his home" and his life provided an impeccable example for his children and family. He was one who was never idle but always kept busy. As a family man, Glenn always made time for his family. It was important for him to either talk to or see his brother, Dwight, every day. With a big heart and a generous spirit, he was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Glenn will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love for his family and his steadfast faith in God.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Lighthouse Family Worship Center with the Reverend Jeremy Mobley officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with the Reverend Jim Brinkley officiating.
Casket bearers will be Scott Ramsey, Jason Ramsey, Joe Ramsey, Scottie Sholar, Mark Sholar and Wade Sholar.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Sunday, one hour prior the funeral service at Lighthouse Family Worship Center.
