Gloria Anselmin Barnhill, 86, of Atkinson passed peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born July 23, 1926 in New York City, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph Francis and Helen Hoar Anselmin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie James Barnhill.

Gloria is survived by her beloved family that took such loving care of her; children, William "Billy" Barnhill of Tucson, AZ, Donald "Donnie" Barnhill (Johnnie) of Atkinson, Linda B. Houser of Granbury, TX, Michael "Mike" Barnhill (Barbara), Mitchell "Mitch" Barnhill (Hope) and Edward Joseph "Eddie Joe" Barnhill (Melissa) all of Atkinson; grandchildren, Margaret Akers, Chad Houser, Marc Barnhill, Scott Barnhill, Michelle Gleaton, Audrea Barnhill, Samantha Northcott, Suzanne Price, Ryan Barnhill, Taylor Barnhill and Makenzie Barnhill; great grandchildren, William, Joshua, Ashlea, Caleb, Brooke, Alexandra, Liana, Ryder, Colton, Rayna and Sam; many extended family and dear friends.

She was a member of Atkinson Baptist Church.

Gloria had lots of love that she joyfully shared with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Being a dedicated homemaker, she was expert at cooking, sewing, gardening and anything else her family needed. She was filled with grace, kindness and thoughtfulness for others. Being a friend to many, she was a strong, yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her. Her radiant smile, Christian faith, and generous spirit will be remembered and cherished.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Atkinson Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Lynn Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in Woodcock Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Ryan Barnhill, Robert Barnhill, David Barnhill, William Barnhill, Josh Sessoms, Jamie Northcott, Kelly Bloodworth and Chris Price.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
