Gloria “Jane Russell” Zopfi, 83, of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

She was born on October 25, 1942, in Wilmington to the late Woodard Franklin Alford and the late Harriet Tishie (Wilkins) Alford.

Gloria was a social butterfly, animal lover and an outstanding singer. She sang under the name of Jane Russell in several bands in the Wilmington area and even recorded music in Nashville. One of her greatest joys was to volunteer to sing in local retirement communities. After retiring from the ABC store, she went to work at the parking deck. Gloria was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her.

Gloria is survived by her son, Alan Russell and wife, Sheri; her daughter, Pam Terry and husband, James; her brothers, Clarence Alford and wife, Jean, Charles Alford; her grandchildren, Brittany Russell-Pappas and husband, Tyler, McKenzie Terry; adopted son, Eric Barwick and wife, Peggy; her great grandchildren, Amelie Russell-Pappas, Caden Russell-Pappas; her beloved dog, Ollie; and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was also preceded in death by her three brothers, George Alford, Jack Alford, and Bobby Alford.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington with Pastor Rudy Shepard officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
