Graham Margin Pope, age 84, of Wilmington died Friday, February 27, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Columbus County and was the son of the late James L. and Lela Jane Shipman Pope.

Mr. Pope served his country honorably in the US Army during WW II.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Rowe Pope; children, Marvin Pope of Chesapeake, Virginia, Mamie Forbes of Springfield, Vermont, Julia Pope of Chesapeake, Virginia, Teresa Pope and Joseph Pope both of Cottontown, Tennessee; five grandchildren; two great granddaughters; brothers, Edgar Pope of Burgaw and Harry Pope of Maco; and sisters, Iris Fowler, Carolyn Ward and Violet Ward all of Wilmington.

The family will receive friends and have a time of sharing from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
