We are so sad to share the loss of a wonderful young man, Gregory Alexander Lanier, who passed from his earthly life Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the age of 35.

He was born December 19, 1987 in Wilmington, the son of  Carolyn Horrell Lanier and the late Alfred Donald Lanier.

In addition to his mother, Carolyn, Greg is survived by his loving family, Avery Lanier, Gretchen Brock (Marty), Dawn Henry, Gregory D. Lanier (Yvonne), Charlie Lanier (Allison), Lizzie Horchler (Paul), Richard Whitley, Michael Lanier (Leann), Jeffrey Lanier (Beth), Wayne Lanier (Janet), and Wanda Morgan; many additional extended family members and friends.

Greg received his college degree from Mt. Olive University and was employed as a government source specialist with Wrigglesworth Enterprises in Wilmington.

Greg loved life and enjoyed being outdoors as he was an avid runner and cyclist. He was a bright light in this world who cast a beacon of love and much laughter to all who crossed his path. Greg had personality plus, loved a good joke, and had a smile to warm you. Greg's greatest gift was the joy he brought others through his exuberant sense of humor and the warmth of his love and friendship that he offered freely. Last, but certainly not least Greg loved his family.

The family will receive friends at 12:30  to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Shepard conducting the service. Casketbearers will be Will Robertson, Paul Horchler, Kolby Lanier, Logan Nelson, Michael Lanier, and Wayne Lanier.

Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.
