Obituary

Harold "Bill" Lynn Lunsford, Sr., 81, of Rocky Point passed peacefully at home with his beloved family at his side.

He was born February 28, 1937 in Pender County, the son of the late Gurley and Geneva Bonham Lunsford. Also, lovingly remembered is their daughter, Linda Sellars; brother, Morris Lunsford and sister, Ruby Rivenbark, all who preceded Bill in death.

Bill is survived by his cherished wife of 61 years, Betty Mitchell Lunsford; children, Brenda Lanier and husband Stephen, Harold L. Lunsford, Jr. and wife Beth, Patrick Lunsford and wife Sherry, and Heather Sawyer; son-in-law, Dewayne Sellars; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter soon to be born; brothers, Robert "Bobby" Lunsford and wife Marie, Howard Lunsford and wife Faye and Wayne Lunsford and wife Lynette; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Being a loyal employee for many years, Bill retired from Corbett Package Company.

Bill was the BEST husband, daddy, granddaddy and brother and his greatest love was his family. He and Betty set a wonderful example for their children of how life should be lived. Bill was a master craftsman, perfectionist and never met a challenge that he could not overcome. Never spending an idle minute, Bill was always tinkering with something. He still found time to enjoy gardening, classic cars, and most important his dog, Sarge. Bill's passing leaves a tremendous hole in our family circle and he will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. David Knowles will conduct the service.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
