Harry North Mills, 75 years, of Watha passed peacefully on February 2, 2012 at Quinn Hospice Care Center with family by his side.
He was born December 3, 1936 in Pender County, the son of the late Ned Leon and Nora Anderson Mills. He was also predeceased by brothers, Ned Leon Mills, Jr., Gene Anderson Mills, Julian Carol Mills, Jerry Lawrence Mills , Sr., Robert "Bobby" Glenn Mills and Kenneth Wayne Mills and half-sister, Emma Moore Rooks.
Harry is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Aleene Pickett Mills; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Mills of Rose Hill; stepson, Jason Pearson (Jessica) of Watha; grandchildren, Chase, Bradley, Logan, Skylar and Cameron; brother, Mickey Mills of Watha; and many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
Mr. Mills was a faithful, life long member of Watha United Methodist Church where he received the Dedicated Bell Ringer plaque. He served his country proudly in the US Navy. Harry was a graduate of Cape Fear Technical Institute, receiving a degree in welding. He was retired from Martin-Marietta.
Harry, a man of honor and integrity with a steadfast faith in the Lord always tried to do the right thing to the very best of his ability. He was a quiet gentleman who diligently loved and cared for his family. Cherished memories of Harry will forever remain in our hearts.
Funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Watha United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Fedoronko and the Rev. Norman Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Casketbearers will be Britt Jones, Jerry Mills, Needham Hall, Terry Psioda, Ralph Davis and Phil Mills.
The family will receive friends on Saturday in the church fellowship hall at 3:30 p.m. until time of the service.
In loving memory of Harry memorial gifts may be given to Watha United Methodist Church Youth Fund, C/O Diane Mills, 1561 Camp Kirkwood Rd, Watha, NC 28478.
Harry's family would like to thank everyone who cared for and gave support to Harry and his family during Harry's lengthy illness. We are so thankful for the gift of family and friends. May the Lord walk with you always.
