Harry Duane Poling, 90, of Rocky Point and formerly Beaver, WV, passed peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Huntington Health Care in Burgaw, NC, following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's disease.

He was born May 20, 1922 in Cleveland, OH and was the son of the late Raymond Gerald Poling and Grace Wolfe Poling.

Harry is survived by his devoted wife, Pearl R. Poling; sons, H. Duane Poling II (Libby) of Rocky Point, NC, Gary Donald Poling (Cheryl) of Lillington, NC and Larry D. Poling (Gloria) of Beckley, WV; and five grandchildren, Sara Sholar (Alex), Jamie Freeman (Chris), Matthew Poling, Valarie Poling and Jennifer Poling.

Harry served his country honorably during World War II in the US Army Air Corps, receiving an American Theater Ribbon.

Harry loved his family and was a beloved husband, daddy, granddaddy and friend. Being an avid golfer, he enjoyed a round of golf as long as his health permitted. Harry's quiet faith and thankfulness for his many blessings spoke clearly to his family and friends. He will be remembered as a gentle, kind, honorable man who loved God, family and friends.
