Obituary

Hazel Bonham Harris, age 83, of Wilmington passed away peacefully from this life unto eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at her home.

She was born April 14, 1933 in Wilmington, North Carolina the daughter of the late Collie Bonham and Bertha Hope Bonham.

Hazel graduated as an Alumni of James Walker School of Nursing in 1954 then worked in New York as an Operating Room Nurse before coming back to Wilmington and retiring as an Occupational Nurse at International Paper. She was a strong willed, generous and loving person who cared for others in many ways throughout her life. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed and felt blessed to spend time in the company of her family.

Hazel was a long time member of Northside Baptist Church and had a strong faith in God.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Robert Santome (Janet), Wayne Santome, Terry Adams (Russell) and Susan Hartman (Brian); eight grandchildren, Crystal Cameron, Courtney Cameron Bartolo, Jennifer Adams, Adam Santome, Anthony Cameron, Jourdan Santome, Bridgette Zanier and Chris Adams; great grandchild, Jordynn Santome; sister, Louise St. John; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Northside Baptist Church, 2501 N. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28411 with Pastor Rob Strickland and Pastor Mike Morley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Adam Santome, Anthony Cameron, Jourdan Santome, Chris Adams, Conor Bartolo, Grant Billmeier and Vinny Zanier.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice, her nurses Karen H. and Kellie S.; and her CNA Rachel Decker.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or the Charity of One's Choice.
