Hazel Flynn Langston Hudgins, 96, of Rocky point passed very peacefully from her earthly life Monday, December 26, 2022 at her home where she was surrounded with care and love.
She was born May 3, 1926 in Wilmington, the daughter of George Dallas Flynn, Sr. and Lucille Amelia Williams Flynn. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Adolph Langston who died in 1986; husband, James "Jim" Hudgins who died in 1995; sisters, Barbara F. Pate and Jane Woodcock; and brother, George Flynn Jr.
Hazel is survived by her sons, Ed Langston (Jayne), Larry Langston (Linda Craig), Frank Langston (Peggy Whitley) and Rick Langston (Beth); grandchildren, Kim Gray, Todd Langston (Jennifer), Julianna Langston, and Amy Langston; great grandchildren, Ashley Gray, Tyler Gray and Makena Langston; brother, John J. "Blue" Flynn; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was a member of Burgaw Presbyterian Church. When she was unable to attended church she watched services on the Internet.
Hazel was family oriented, a dedicated homemaker, always serving delicious and healthy meals as well as desserts. She was noted for her pound cakes and strawberry desserts. Being the thoughtful lady that she was, Hazel gave and did much for others that often no one knew about. She was a true Southern belle, an exquisite seamstress, always dressed to a tee, and liked for things to be carried out correctly. Her "boys/sons" of which she was so proud were her sunshine and joy. Hazel's sunny smile, words of wisdom, forthright nature, and her good recipes will long be remembered.
Graveside funeral service 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 at Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Will Davis conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers Hazel requested memorial contributions may be given to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
