Hazel
Simpson
Nov 22, 1935 — Oct 17, 2022
Hazel Rouse Simpson, 86, of Watha passed from this earthly life to her eternal rest on Monday, October 17, 2022.
She was born on November 22, 1935, in New Hanover County; the daughter of the late Herman and Martha Alma Walker Rouse. Hazel was also predeceased by her sister, Doris Knapp.
Hazel was a devout member of First Baptist Church in Wallace.
Surviving is her loving husband of 66 years, William Harold Simpson; daughter, Lisa Green and husband, Rick of Clinton; son, Tim Simpson of Castle Hayne; grandchildren, Allison Green and Richard Simpson Green; sisters, Betty Owens and husband, Ronnie of Watha and Diane Miller of Fountaintown; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Hazel dearly.
Hazel was loving wife and caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family with her whole heart. She enjoyed the simple things in life but her greatest joy was spending time with those she loved. Being an avid gardener, Hazel could make anything grow. No matter what kind of plant or flower, if Hazel touched it – it would grow. She especially loved to grow lilies. Hazel loved the color red. Perhaps it was because she was such a vibrant and lively lady, and the color red is also. With a big heart, Hazel was a defender of anyone she thought was a victim or an underdog. She loved her church and missed being able to go like she did when her health permitted. Hazel will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever be in the heart of those who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends from 11:00a.m. to 12 Noon, one hour prior the service, in the church parlor of First Baptist Church, 408 W Main St, Wallace, NC 28466.
