Helen Eltha Corbett, 84, of Wilmington passed from her earthly life on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center surrounded with lots of love by her family.

She was born May 11, 1931 in Uniontown, PA, one of thirteen children of the late Hayes Farwell Liston and Eleanor Veronica O'Brien Liston.

Helen is survived by her six children, Douglas Corbett (Janice), Jeffrey Corbett (Jean), Linda Corbett Thompson (Eric), Brenda Corbett Briggs, Sandra Corbett McNeil (Marty), and Colleen Corbett Welch; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred L. Wood and Mary Elizabeth Blocher; a special friend of many years, Bill Blake; and many extended family and friends.

Helen served her country honorably as a WAC in the US Army and was retired from Corning Inc. Having an outstanding alto voice, Helen for many years sang in Moores Creek Baptist Church choir and also taught Sunday school at the church.

Helen was a wonderful Mom, loving grandmother, and a terrific cook. She was adored by her family and friends, and will be remembered for her courage, her energy, her great sense of humor and her thoughtfulness toward others.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. William Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Atkinson Cemetery.
