Henry "Hank" Eugene Bishop, 76, passed from his earthly life with loved ones at his bedside on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 28, 1939 in Wyoming County, WV, the son of the late Ollie C. Bishop and Sarah Lester Bishop Odom.
Hank is survived by his beloved family; wife of 50 years, Brenda C. Bishop; daughter Alana Walker (Charles); grandchildren, Deanna Eakins (Michael) and Deidra Cole (Jason); great grandchildren, Luke Eakins, Abigail Cole, Mia Eakins and Levi Cole (due to arrive in this world in May); many special extended grandchildren and great grandchildren; Marguerite "Granny" Wheeler who was a very special lady to Hank; sisters Gracie White and Creta "Sissie" Waldron; brothers, Ira Bishop (Jane) and Ray Boy Bishop (Cosby); many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He served his country honorably in the Army National Guard of West Virginia and was for many years a member of W. Dudley Robbins American Legion Post 165. Hank was an over the road truck driver for 43 years.
Hank was a beautiful light who cast a beacon of love, laughter, and kindness to all who crossed his path in life. He never met a stranger and was quick to offer his smile, his great sense of humor, and words of encouragement. His greatest gift was the joy he brought others through laughter with the warmth of his love and friendship he offered freely. Hank loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life. On July 5, 1970 Hank surrendered his life to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and continued to live his life with faith and trust through all his many years of ill health. Among the legacies Hank will leave are the importance of God, Family and Country.
