Hilda Rae Rackley Wells, 87, of Rose Hill left this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 23, 2022.

She was born on October 4, 1935, in Wilmington, NC; the only daughter of the late John Willie and Bertie DeBose Rackley.  Hilda was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Colton Milton Wells; and her brothers, Wayne and Horace Rackley.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her devoted children, Milton Wells of Rose Hill, Dannie Kaye Wells (Teresa Fredman) of Sneads Ferry, Glenn Wells of Rose Hill and Chris Wells (Enid) of Deep Gap, NC; grandchildren, Nicholas Wells (Heather), Amy Wells, Deanna Kaye Wells (Justin), Erica Elaine Trivette (Anthony), and Kristin Farmer (Brandon), great grandchildren, Blaine Padgett, Luke Wade Trivette, Colton Reed Wells, Champ Kamm, Kenley Ray Wells, Ansley Wells, Wyatt Trivette, Walker Trivette and a special miracle baby-girl that will be here soon; special friend, Eric DeVane of Wallace; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Hilda dearly.

Hilda was a long-time member of Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Hilda was a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family with all her heart. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, "an instrument of God's love on this earth." When Hilda's health permitted, she was an immaculate homemaker who filled her home with love.  To say that Hilda enjoyed shopping is an understatement!  It was her passion!  She enjoyed shopping in actual stores or ordering online.  But most of all, Hilda loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived a life that glorified Him. She loved her church family dearly.  Hilda will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Hilda.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Fire Tower Road, Rose Hill, NC with Pastor Jack Melvin officiating.
