Homer Allyson Lewis, 72, of Rocky Point passed from his earthy life on Friday, April 6, 2012 at his home with family by his side.

He was born October 30, 1939 in Bladen County, the son of the late Earl Lewis and Gladys Benton Lewis Taylor. Also lovingly remembered is his wife of 37 years, Carolyn Turner Lewis, who died April 4, 1996.

Homer is survived by his son, Joey Dean Lewis (Wendy Sue Lindemer); grandchildren, Gregory Dean Lewis and Alison Holly Lewis; brother, Richard Taylor (Pat) of Bladenboro and sister, Linda Hester of Bladenboro.

Homer was a member of Riley's Creek Baptist Church. Many will remember what a wonderful carpenter Homer was and the many home improvements he did for people in the Riley's Creek community. He was blessed with a joyful spirit and a love for his family and fellowman.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Riley's Creek Baptist Church with The Rev. Jim Herchenhahn officiating. Burial will follow in Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Roger Jones, Gregory Lewis, Joseph Long, James Davis, David Huggins, and Bobby Groves.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
