Howard McKay Lunsford, Jr., age 42, of Rocky Point died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, August 14, 2010.

He was born January 28, 1968 in Pender County and was the son of Howard McKay Lunsford, Sr. and Brenda Faye Jenkins Lunsford of Rocky Point He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Geneva and Gurley Lunsford and Emmitt and Flora Jenkins.

In addition to his parents Howard is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Brenda Carter Lunsford of the home; sons, Lee McKay Lunsford and Christopher Shawn Tyndall both of the home and Anthony Tyndall, Jr. of Wilmington; grandchildren, Seth Tyndall and Jillian "Jelly Bean" Tyndall; sisters, Angie L. Woodcock (William) of Currie, Anita L. Barnhill (David) of Atkinson and Debbie L. Stevens (Rick); brother, Randy Dean Lunsford (Sherry) of Ohio; two special cousins, Jerome and Patrick; and many nieces and nephews.

Howard was a devoted husband and loving son, daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend. He enjoyed the simple things of life, but his greatest joy was being with family and friends. He loved fishing, bowling, target shooting, tractor pulls and mud slinging.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel. Immediately following the service the family will receive friends at the funeral home until 3:30 p.m.

Loving and cherished memories of Howard will forever remain in our hearts.
