Obituary

Hoyte Gene Miller, age 66, of Rocky Point died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

He was born April 5, 1944 in Duplin County, the son of the late Hoyte Randolph and Ada Turner Miller.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 46 years, Sylvia Anne Miller of the home; daughter, Renee` Miller Carpenter (Charles "Chuck" B. Carpenter, Jr.) of High Point; son, Donald Gene Miller (Debbie Tynan) of Castle Hayne; grandchildren, Taylor Miller, Chasen Carpenter, Justin Cavenaugh and Christopher Evans; and sister, Phoebe Sanderson (Parker) of Pink Hill.

Mr. Miller was a licensed general contractor and for 45 years was owner/operator of Miller Carpenter Service.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2010 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Richard Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Frankie Pridgen, Randy Pridgen, William Hill Pearsall, Larry Paramore, Leon Lewis, Jr. and James Davis.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
