Irene Robinson Holbrook, 87, of Wilmington passed gently from her earthly life on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 29, 1927 in Brunswick County, the daughter of the late Archie Lee and Ruth Cumbee Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Vernon Holbrook, Sr.

Irene is survived by her sons, Ralph V. Holbrook, Jr. (Sandra) of West End and Wayne A. Holbrook (Carol) of Burgaw; grandchildren, Derrick Holbrook, Alex Holbrook and Megan Holbrook; sisters, Judy Cheney, Della Landry and Elva Lehrschall all of Wilmington; brothers, Bernard Robinson of CA and Linwood Robinson of SC; and many nieces and nephews.

Irene was a long time faithful member of Lake Forest Baptist Church. She was a kind and gentle lady; a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, Irene enjoyed working in her garden and sharing the vegetables she grew. Her joy in life and her steadfast faith in her Lord will always be remembered.

The family will receive friends at 12 noon on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wilmington Chapel with service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
