Irene Newton Normann, 79, of White Lake passed gracefully from her earthly life on Monday, June 30, 2014 at her home.
She was born October 26, 1934 in Pender County, the daughter of the late James C. and Katie Caison Newton. Also lovingly remembered is Irene's daughter, Charlotte Glover; sisters, Mary Pridgen, Maggie Powers, and Florence Johnson and brothers, Sivey Newton, Elbert Newton, Sr., Franklin Newton and John Ed Newton, all who preceded Irene in death.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Normann Pique (William); son-in-law, Gary Glover; grandchildren, Mya Cruz, Sarah Cross, Megan Glover, Priscilla D`Auria and Cyndy L. Pique; many great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Mae Rivenbark (Frank) and Emily Kay Harris; brother, Neal Newton (Sue); and many nieces and nephews.
Irene graduated from St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida and worked for many years as a Registered Nurse. She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Whiteville Branch.
Irene was a lady filled with grace and goodness who loved her family. Through the years she was active in her church and blessed with a love for the Lord and a personal faith that took her through an extended illness. Irene was a strong, courageous and yet gentle lady who always had a smile and a kind word to share with others. Fond memories of Irene are treasured and will not be forgotten.
Funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Elder Steve Williams officiating. Private burial will be at Newton Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday following the funeral service.
