Irene Mims Pearson, age 96, of Wilmington went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 10, 2016.

She was born July, 6, 1919 in Pittsboro, NC the daughter of the late Giles Nathan and Gussie Arrowood Mendenhall. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur L. Mims and Paul Pearson; brothers, George Mendenhall, Taft Mendenhall, Robert Mendenhall and Giles Mendenhall; and sisters May Mendenhall, Viola Lowe, Wilma Wesson and Virginia Crawford.

Irene was devoted to her family. She married Arthur Mims at the age of 20 and they had four Children. After Arthur's death in 1975, she moved to Melbourne Florida where she met and married Paul Pearson. After Paul's death, she moved to Magnolia Greens in Leland NC to be closer to her family. She loved her Lord and was an active member in her church where she regularly attended the First Baptist Church in Leland, NC and was a part of the Ladies Adult 7 Sunday school class.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Lanier (Calvin) of Castle Hayne, Richard L. Mims (Pat) of Leland, Lewis Mims (Ingrid) of Woodbridge, VA and James B. Mims (Lori) of Montclair, VA; grandchildren, Kimberly A. Amend (Tom), Ashley Thompson (Anthony) and Brian J. Mims; great grandchild, Thomas J. Amend; stepson, Tom Pearson (Ginny) of La Fayette, IN; and step grandchild, Chris Pearson as well as numerous other loving family members.

A funeral service will be held 6 PM Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Wilmington Chapel with a visitation following.
Interment will be held 1 PM Monday, April 18, 2016 where she will be buried with her husband, Arthur Mims in Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Virginia.
