Isaac Ray
Deal
Jul 30, 1944 — Oct 1, 2024
Isaac Ray Deal, our beloved husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend passed away at home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
He was born July 30, 1944, in Pender County, the son of George Phillip Deal and Maddie Brown Deal. In addition to his parents Ray was preceded in death by their son, Michael Deal; brother, Phillip Deal; and best friends, Robert Wells and Gene Austin Wells.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Elsa Mae Dixon Deal; son, Isaac "Ike" Deal, Jr. (Christy); daughter, Candy Gilbert (Rick); grandchildren, Audrey Deal, Matthew Wells, and Kenzie Wells; brother, Eddie "Bubber" Deal (Martha); sisters, Peggy "Sissy" Farrior (Hugh) and Dorothy "Dottie" Wells; many nieces, nephews and friends. Not to be forgotten are his canine companions Chloe and Teddy Bear.
Ray retired after 25 years of working as a dedicated maintenance mechanic with Civil Service in Jacksonville. He was also a hunter safety course instructor with NC Wildlife Resources Commission. Ray also found time and enjoyment in doing taxidermy. Many folks have deer heads, bears, turkeys, ducks and even a rooster in their homes that Ray preserved.
Ray, a Godly man, was a member and deacon at Coras Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being outdoors in God's beautiful nature. Ray was known for his thoughtfulness, great devotion to his family, loyalty to his friends and faithful service to his church. A man is blessed to have a loving family, and faithful friends and Ray was such a man. His presence on this earth and in our family circle will surely be missed.
