Ivey Charles "I.C." Ennis, age 91, of Wallace left his earthly life for his eternal rest on Thursday, April 19, 2012.
Born June 29, 1920, in Duplin County; he was the son of the late Ivey Carey and Mary Lou Wells Ennis. He was also predeceased by his son, David; daughter, Deanna; granddaughter, Amy; brothers, Manley, Deleon, Eldred, Thomas and Edwin; sisters, Lois, Eunice, Mary and Annie Ruth and son-in-law, Douglas.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 66 years, Evelyn; his grandson, Dwight and daughter-in-law, Christie.
Mr. Ennis served his country honorably in the 82nd Airborne 508 Parachute Infantry during WWII. He was a life-long dedicated member of Wells Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Wells Chapel Baptist Church in Harrells with the Rev. Ed Rouse, Jimmy Newkirk, the Rev. Ottis King officiating.
Burial will follow with military honors in Rockfish Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace and other times at the Ennis' home.
I.C. was a devoted husband and loving father whose life was dedicated to his wife, family, church and community. His steadfast moral convictions and disciplined lifestyle provided an impeccable Christian example not only for his family but for others over the years. Being a man of wisdom, honest and trustworthy, he was a pillar of the community. I.C.'s family is grateful to God for his life and consider themselves very blessed to have had such a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will forever be remembered and dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Brian Center for their loving support and compassionate care they have given to the Ennis family over the years.
