J. W. Sessions, Jr., age 80, left this life for his eternal rest on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center.

He was born November 12, 1932 in Robeson County and was the son of the late John William Sessions, Sr. and Mary Eliza Harris Sessions. He was also predeceased by his sons, Johnny and Ronnie Sessions.

Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Betty Moore Sessions; his son, Donnie Sessions and wife, Jenny of Winston-Salem; step children, Cherry Jones, Denise Roberts and husband, George, Abigail Williams and husband, Milton, all of Willard, Roger Malpass and wife, Teresa of Castle Hayne and David Malpass of Willard; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren; sister, Joyce McKenny of Wilmington and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

J.W. was a devoted husband and caring father, brother and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He found great joy in the simplest things, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Being a good cook, J.W. enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, going to the mountains and singing with Betty. J.W. loved life and loved to make others laugh. He never met a stranger and always had a joke to share. J.W. will surely be missed but wonderful memories will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Memorial service will be 12:00 Noon on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace Chapel with Pastor Stephen Dupree officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12:00 Noon on Friday at the funeral home.
