Obituary

We lost our sweet, loving, kindhearted Jalen C Woods.  He left this world unexpectedly on August 25, 2020. He resided in Rocky Point, NC, but hometown is good old Sanford, NC.

Born July 14, 1993 in Chapel Hill, NC, the son of Monica Yarborough of Durham NC and Calvin Chesney of Fayetteville, NC. He was raised beautifully by his Papa & Granny, Archie & Betty Yarborough of Sanford, NC.

Jalen (JAY) graduated from Lee Senior High School in Sanford, NC. Jay played on the school football team, the wrestling team and Flat Springs Baptist Church baseball team where he was a member.

Jalen loved football, fishing, spending time with family, the occasional idea of playing chef, oh and football AND anything that else involved DUKE!

Jalen was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Archie Yarborough; paternal grandparents, Woody and Mary Chesney; aunt, Debra Chesney and uncles, Adam and Mike Chesney.

Surviving in addition to his parents and grandparents are sisters, Tiffany Torrence, Vasessa Pizzitola, Alicia Pedleton, Desiree Pedleton, Kaitlind Chesney all of Fayetteville and Braden Rosser of Broadway; aunts, Christina McLaughlin of Rocky Point and Tammy Gregory of Atlanta GA; uncle Rhent Chesney of Sanford; cousins, Nicholas & Zachary Eldred of Rocky Point and 11 other Chesney cousins.

He is also remembered by countless friends. We will always remember his infectious smile and caring personality.

When you think and remember of JAY, celebrate the good memories you have of him.  Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.

A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2020 in Flat Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 4148 Deep River Road, Sanford, NC 27330 with Pastor Gary McCollough conducting the service.
