James Hamilton Barbour, Jr., 74, of Rocky Point passed from his earthly life on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.
He was born November 5, 1943 in Lynchburg, VA, the son of the late James Hamilton Barbour and Edna Lee Burnette Barbour Angus. Also remembered are his brothers, Chip Barbour, Robert Barbour and Dale Angus, all who preceded James in death.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Alberta DeVane Barbour; daughters, Jamie Barbour (Tim) and Melissa C. Prosser (Chris); son, Timmy Corbett (Lisa); grandchildren, Lexee, Christopher (Britton), Tiffany (Matt), Gabby (Eli), and Preston; great grandchildren, Mason and Ava; sister, Linda Wetzel (Bill); brothers, Larry Barbour Angus (Dina), Glenn Barbour (Stephanie), and Warren Angus (Jeannie); and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
James served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Fighting courageously in many battles, James received a Purple Heart for injury received while fighting for his country.
He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and granddaddy, affectionately called "Paw Paw" by everyone. James loved being outdoors in all of God's beautiful nature. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes, but most important was family. James departure from his earthly life has left an empty place in our home and in our hearts.
