James Dearl Brinson, age 75, of Wallace died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at his residence.

He was born September 15, 1933 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Hallie Thomas and Effie Mae Brown Brinson. He was also predeceased by his wife of thirty-nine years, Penny McNeil Brinson; his step-mother, Betty Barwick Brinson; brother, Earl Brinson and sister, Betty Murray.

Mr. Brinson served his country honorably in the US Army. He enjoyed working on vehicles and was an auto mechanic at Bostic Hawes Ford-Mercury of Wallace (now Friendly Ford) for thirty-six years. James loved people and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his daughter, Debbie B. Carter and husband, Larry; sons, Randy Brinson and wife, Susan and Tracy Brinson and wife, Kim, all of Wallace; grandchildren, Kim Carter, Amber C. Blanton, Shannon Brinson, Amy Brinson, Elliott Brinson and Justin Brinson; five great grandchildren; sisters, Jackie Evans of Goldsboro, Mary Jane Jones of Mt Olive, Marolyn Brock of Wallace and Carolyn Sullivan of Hampstead; special friend, Terry Johnson, numerous nieces and nephews and his special canine companions, Buddy and Dakota.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Poston Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Gillespie officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

Casketbearers will be Timmy Jones, Terry Johnson, Terry Capps, Scott Stanley, Terry Duff and Dewayne Peterson.

The family will receive friends 7:00 to 9:00 pm Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace and at the home of James Brinson.
