James "Bubba" Thomas Croom, age 31, of Rocky Point passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016.

He was born September 4, 1984 in Wilmington, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Mintz and grandparents, James and Edith Croom, and Joe Lockamy.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jimmy Croom Jr. and Terry Lockamy Croom and Stepfather, Art Swain, four sisters, Leslie Croom Carlton (George), Amy Croom Hawkins (Heath), Kandy Croom Jones (Britton) and Haley Croom; grandmothers, Betty Lockamy and Joyce Swain; nieces and nephews, Kelsey Hosford, Aaron Mintz, Ashlynn Mintz, Trevor Hobbs and Wyatt Hawkins; great nieces and nephews who he adored; many Aunts and Uncles that he cherished, especially Sue Lockamy; Buddy Lockamy; his canine companion, Rosco; and numerous other family and friends.
After high school graduation he continued his education at Cape Fear Community College where he obtained certifications in Machining and HVAC, then became employed with Corning.

James enjoyed spending time on the water fishing, hunting or being in the company of his family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Quinn McGowen Wilmington Chapel.

A funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2016 at Quinn McGowen Wilmington Chapel with Pastor Gwen Craven officiating. Burial will follow in Seagate Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Smith, Josh Smith, Kyle Powers, Aaron Mintz, Trevor Hobbs, Chris Cotten, Justin Robertson and Brian Moore.

In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
