Obituary

James Carey Everett, age 71, of Wallace was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, October 18, 2014.

Born on December 23, 1942 in New Hanover County, Carey was the only son of the late John Calvin and Mamie English Everett. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Yvette Everett.

Surviving to cherish his memories is his devoted wife of 52 years, Kay Matthews Everett; his son, Kevin Everett and wife, Amy of Burgaw; his daughter, Andrea Dixon and husband, John of Wallace; his six grandchildren, Justin Everett, Krystin Henderson, Blake Brinson, Tyler Dixon, Logan Dixon and Lauren Dixon; numerous step siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.

Carey was a caring husband and loving father and grandfather. He was a man who loved the Lord with all his heart and would share the love of Jesus at every opportunity. With an humble heart, he would tell you that he didn't deserve the wonderful grace and mercy of God...but was so glad God loved him anyway. Carey was a hard worker who saw that the needs of his family were always met. He was a man of great integrity, whose word was his bond. Loved and respected by all, Carey was, without a doubt, a true gift from God. Carey's family is grateful to God for his life and for your kindness, friendship and prayers.
