Obituary

James "Jimmy" Edward Fields, 67, of Burgaw departed from his earthly life to his eternal rest on Monday, September 10, 2012 at his home surrounded by loving family.

He was born July 21, 1945 in Duplin County, the son of the late Emmanuel Eugene and Bessie Johnson Fields. Also remembered is his sister, Margaret Dean Fields who preceded Jimmy in death.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Polly Fields; children, Melissa Fields Kong (Moe) of Wilmington, Alfred Fields, and Sarah Fields Newman (Greg) all of Burgaw; grandchildren, Caitlyn Moffett, James Moffett, Trenton Kong, Kailey Newman, Sophia Kong and Wyatt Newman; brother, Donald E. Fields (Peggy) of Wallace; sisters, Margie Kennedy of Beulaville, Ann Norman (Butch) of Rose Hill and Glenda Smith (Tracey) of Harrells; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Morissette (Ray) of Sumter, SC and Joyce Flake of Long Creek; and many extended family and friends who dearly loved Jimmy.

Jimmy was a proud graduate of Wallace-Rose Hill High School who gave Pender County 25 years of excellence as an employee. He was a dedicated and loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Horace Hawes officiating. Burial will follow in Pin Hook Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Richard Kennedy, Timmy Fields, Keith Smith, Tony Fields, Stuart Miller and Anthony Pridgen

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Kotz and his staff for the compassionate, excellent care that they gave to Jimmy.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC or to American Cancer Society, 2202 Wrightsville Ave., Suite 111, Wilmington, NC 28403.
