James Franklin Futrell, 58, of Kenansville passed from this earthly life to his eternal rest on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

He was born on June 3, 1965, in Duplin County; the son of Carl Futrell, Sr. of Rose Hill and Anna Brown Casto of Beulaville. James was also preceded in death by his brother, Carl "Bo" Futrell, Jr.

Surviving is his son Autin Futrell of Benson; daughter Casey Futrell of Mt Olive; grandchildren AnnMarie Rose Futrell, Christina Strickland and Mylah Strickland; sister Betty Whaley of Kenansville; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

James was a loving son, father and brother who loved his family dearly. He was a simple man who was loved by all who knew him.  Although James had many challenges in life due to his health, he was a kindhearted and caring person.  When his health permitted, James was a truck driver, and he enjoyed his job driving a truck.  James will surely be missed but he will never be forgotten.

A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Betty Whaley's home.
