James Edward Hamm, 91, of Castle Hayne, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019, in Wilmington following a long illness.

He was born on December 31, 1927, in Wilson County, North Carolina, to the late Joseph Walter and Ludie (Langston) Hamm. He attended the Castle Hayne Church of God.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rufus, Earl, Jimmy and Arthur, and sister, Mildred.

James is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Eunice (Hazard) Hamm; his sons, James Edward Hamm, Jr and his wife Karen, Joe Marino and his wife Celina, and Butch Shepherd; daughters, Judy Hamm Rimmer and her husband Fred, Linda Hamm Moore, Wanda Hamm Gladden and her husband Chris, Debbie Lanagan and her husband Kenny, and Verbie Senis; sister, Belle Sandifer; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and special friends Woody and Sharon Melton.

A graveside service will be held on 1:00 PM Monday, March 4, 2019, at Oleander Memorial Gardens with Woody Melton officiating.
