Obituary

James "Buck" Elmer Hunt, Jr., 78, of Rose Hill left this life for his eternal rest on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from Sampson Regional Medical Center.

He was born on June 29, 1935 in Bladen County and was the son of the late James Elmer Hunt, Sr. and Inez Ward Hunt. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Johnson Hunt in 2011 and his sister,Inez Thomas Smith.

Mr. Hunt attended Corinth Baptist Church when as his health permitted.

Surviving is his devoted daughter, Mary Hunt of Hope Mills; grandson, Hunter Cole, also of Hope Mills; sister, Wilhelmina McDaniel of Elizabethtown; son-in-law, Billy Cole of Hope Mills; brother-in-law, Toby Johnson and wife, Janice of Rose Hill and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Buck, as he was affectionately known, was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather and brother. He was a simple man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. Buck was a man who loved his family dearly, especially his grandson, Hunter. He had three passions in life; his family, his dogs and hunting. Being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening and fishing, but he especially enjoyed coon hunting with friends and family. Buck will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, February 7, 2014 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Andy Beard and Mr. Bo Jones officiating.

Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, Wallace.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, one hour prior the funeral service at the funeral home.
