James “Jay” Richard Blackburn, 57, of Castle Hayne, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at home following a short illness.

He was born on June 6, 1969, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Claudie and Joan (Hobbs) Blackburn.

Jay enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels, metal detecting and working on Volkswagens. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Jay is survived by his wife, Lisa (Colvin) Blackburn; his son, Brandon Blackburn and wife, Samantha; his brother, Bill Blackburn and wife, Julie; his sister, Marie Eason and husband, Johnnie; his mother-in-law, Kathleen Colvin; his grandchildren, William Blackburn, Amelia Blackburn; special niece, Lavonia Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jay was also preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Lewis.

There will be no services at this time.
