James "Jimmy" Louis
Rivenbark
Dec 11, 1946 — May 10, 2014
James "Jimmy" Louis Rivenbark, 67, of Rocky Point passed from his earthly life on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at his home.
He was born December 11, 1946 in Pender County and was the son of the late Robert Lee and Ola Mae Crews Rivenbark. Also remembered are his son, Robert Glen Rivenbark; brother, Robert Clifton Rivenbark and best friend, Barry Hayes, all who preceded Jimmy in death.
Jimmy is survived by his son, Allen K. Rivenbark of Rocky Point; grandson, Allen Rivenbark, Jr.; brother, Tim Rivenbark (Pat) of Wilmington; sisters, Penny Rivenbark (Jimmy) of Burgaw and Libby Rivenbark (Jakie) of New Bern; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Linda Hayes and all of her and Barry's family.
Jimmy served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. After serving his country, Jimmy worked as a crane operator for 43 years for Horton Iron and Metal, retiring in January of 2014.
Jimmy loved his family and was a great dad, granddaddy, brother and friend. If you had Jimmy for a friend you had a friend in deed. His love of people was evident as he never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. For enjoyment, Jimmy loved fishing and genealogy, especially researching the Rivenbark family history. His generous nature, cheerful smile and warm heart will be remembered and treasured.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Archie Rivenbark officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
