He was born December 29, 1944 in Florence, SC, the son of the late Henry Edward and Mary Etta Clayton Loyd. He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter; and brothers, Edward Loyd, Frank Loyd and Jackie Loyd.

Garland loved his family dearly and showed it in his own special way- Garland had his own expert way of doing things. He had the gift of being able to fix most anything and was always willing to share his talent and knowledge, taking great pride in all that he did.
